Tony
Kerst is a 40+ year resident of Big Bear Lake, CA. While a teacher in
the local school district, his interest in photography began when he
started using cameras in his classroom for visual literacy projects
with his students. As his interest in photography grew, he began
taking scenic photographs of Big Bear Lake, CA in the San Bernardino
Mountains of southern California.
During the summer of
1979, Tony and his wife Dottie, started a wholesale business called
Kerst Scenic Photography,Inc. Using his scenic photos, they created
new post cards for Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead and the Mojave Desert.
Over the next 28 years the business grew to include many photographic
products including calendars, Christmas cards, souvenirs, and
photographic prints in commercial publications. More than 3 million Kerst Scenic Photo post cards have been mailed around the world. The business was sold in 2007, and Tony is now concentrating on selling his images in online and local galleries.
Tony continues to add
photographs to his collection. With a focused emphasis on the natural
beauty of the southern California mountains, he seeks to capture the
essence of the scenery, flora, and fauna of the region. Occasional
photo trips to other scenic destinations provide the opportunity to add
new images to his collection.
